Setup and Equipment needed

First off before even starting the application, you should get the hardware you need to enable you to record your guitar to your iPad. There are two basic input types you need to consider:

Guitar Amp

Launch GarageBand for iPad and plug your guitar into the iRig. On the left of the screen is a ' 1/4' jack' button which lets you add a noise gate. Handy for those distorted tones. Next to it is the guitarist's best friend: the Tuner... no excuses for a flat g-string!

In the middle, you can select from different amp combinations and even save settings of your own. You can also swipe the amps to keep the same preset settings and try these settings on different amps.

On the far right is the 'pedals' section. Here you can add up to 4 pedals, change their effects level and remove pedals. To get back to the amp section, tap the 'Amp' icon on the right of the screen. One nice thing about GB for iPad is that you can change the amps settings after you've recorded your part and even create your own presets for future recordings.

Audio Recorder

If you want to record acoustic guitar, you can use the iPad's built in microphone but I would recommend looking at Blue Microphone's 'Yeti Pro' or Apogee's upcoming 'Mic' to add a professional sheen to your recordings. When you first open Audio Recorder it gives you a VU meter to check your audio input levels. A noise gate is also available by tapping on the '1/4' plug' icon.

Once you record a take, you can then add processing to the sound from a preset selection that include effects and voice transformers. The effects also give you sliders for compression, reverb, chorus, etc. depending on the effect you choose.

Recording Tips!

First and foremost... PRACTICE! GB on the iPad does not allow editing like GB on a Mac and you don't get features like Flex Time, multiple takes, pitch correction, etc. Also, you will have to play the parts at the tempo of the song unlike those who slow a song down, record their part, and speed it up after. While some would look at this as a detriment, I look at it as positive growth for musical skills and it ultimately gives you a better understanding of your song. After all, becoming a better musician is a life long process and not a means to an end.

After recording an electric guitar you have plenty of options to affect the tone as the amps have EQ and FX pedals to compress, etc. If you want to record feedback on the electric guitar, you will need to connect the output to your speakers and boost the main volume. But... be careful as each amp/guitar has it's own characteristics for feedback and some are just plain uncontrollable ear-piercing squeals. Layering guitars also has the usual big sound but also eats up tracks so planning is crucial.

Also, when planning your song parts, take into account that GB for iPad does things in 'sections' and only up to 10 sections. While this may not seem like a big deal, you will want to figure out the parts/sections of your song beforehand. For example, song intro, verse 1, pre-chorus, verse 2 with added guitar, pre-chorus with organ, Chorus, verse 3 with less instruments, bridge, intro, Chorus, Chorus 2, End, etc. You can put the 'Sections' into 'Automatic' mode which gives you whatever amount of bars you want i.e. Record intro and verse 1 together.

When recording an acoustic guitar or instrument, be sure to try different takes with your USB microphone or iPad mic on different spots and distances from the guitar. Mic placement is very critical to get a decent sound. For example, placing a mic close to the sound hole of the guitar can add unwanted bass frequencies. Although with the iPad mic I found this to be the best spot.

Also, there are No EQ Frequency bands to allow you to fix things after recording. For a brighter tone, consider newer strings or a harder pick. If using the iPad's mic, make sure your room is as quiet as possible, because it'll pick up every little sound as the signal to noise ratio is not great. Another trick is to use the Guitar Amp settings for EQ control. I found the most natural to be the Clean Combo setting with the gain off. As you increase the gain, it adds some crunch to the tone. This way you can EQ somewhat and even add some nice compression and chorus. Even playing with the Noise Gate setting gave some interesting results. Metal Acoustic! Experimentation is key.

This is not a complete description of all Omnisphere can do. If you want a complete review you better head over to the Sound on Sound website and make sure you read the manual! This is also just a very personal opinion on Omnisphere and the reasons why, for me, it's a great product.

Omnisphere is not a sampler, meaning you can't use your own samples and create complicated keymaps, switches or round robin setups. I'm fine with that as I never use my own samples to create realistic instruments anyway. You can however import your samples and use them for granular synthesis and that I really love. You can create whole soundscapes from a short field recording or a sample from a record.

Usually I'm not a fan of multi timbral VST's. I'd rather open new instances on new tracks, because that way every instrument has it's own track in my DAW and I can easily sculpt the sound further with other plugins. Spectrasonics warns us that using multiple instances will cause extra overhead, so I was glad to find that setting up a multi in Omnisphere is really very easy. I'm having no trouble at all.

Omnisphere does one thing very well that not many VST's offer nowadays. I've always loved the sound of the Roland D-50 and Korg Wavestations. They offered kinda realistic recreations of real instruments, but really excelled at creating hybrid sounds: subtractive synthesis based on samples. Apart from Absynth I don't know any plugin that does this well, and in fact, Omnisphere does this a lot better, I think, because it's synthesis engine is so much simpler to use.

Omnisphere's huge sound library and synthesis engine becomes even more powerful if you have one of the supported hardware synths. My Nordlead has really gotten a new lease of life with Omnisphere. With the Nordlead acting as a fully integrated controller I'm tweaking away on sounds the Nordlead could never do. Software has suddenly become more hands-on then it has ever been for me.

Omnisphere is definitely the most expensive VST I have. It cost me more than many of the DAW's I've used. But the alternative to buying Omnisphere for me was not another VST. It was buying a hardware synth, because I really need that hands-on control to stay inspired. Suddenly, with the hardware integration and a Nordlead sitting next to me the price made sense. Great sonic possibilities, hands-on control, total recall from within the DAW, it's hard to beat.

If you have something like a Bassstation2 or a Miniloque and are looking for different sounds to complement these instruments Omnisphere is a unique proposition.

The ability to switch on or off layers, effects and the arpeggiator right from the main page is awesome, but why are these LED-like switches so damned tiny? The magnifying glasses that open the detailpages are also a bit too small to my liking. The whole interface of Omnisphere can be scaled, but only 1x will fit my 15' laptop so that does not help me much.

There's one more thing: the arpeggiator is great. It's very flexible and, yes, it's also very easy to use. You can do old fashioned arpeggiated chords and basslines, but it's also possible to choose any of the percussive patches and use the arpeggiator as a stepsequencer to create beats. ps: I contacted support because Omnisphere was not storing my preferences. I was impressed by their quick, knowledgeable and friendly replies. It turned out the standalone application and Ableton Live were not running with the proper administrative rights on my system and they helped me set it up correctly.

Most people who want to hack on the Secure Shell app do not need to make changes here. Typically this will be built once and copied into the nassh tree. You can even just download an existing Secure Shell extension and copy the NaCl binaries out of that.

We currently use Chrome‘s Native Client NaCl project to compile C/C++ code in a way that the browser can execute directly. This is a restricted/secure runtime so that the native code can’t break out and attack other processes. More details can be found in the NaCl documentation.

glibc (NaCl) vs newlib (PNaCl)
The build only supports building against newlib which means it only supports building using the PNaCl toolchain. Previously, the focus was on glibc & NaCl (because PNaCl didn‘t exist or wasn’t stable), but now the focus is on newlib & PNaCl. Since the glibc build wasn't used anywhere, we dropped support for it entirely.
Also, even though we build using PNaCl, we still translate the pexe (the PNaCl executable) into nexe‘s (NaCl executables) for release. There might be room for improvement here, but it’s a low priority atm as we haven't had any requests to support any arch other than x86/x86_64/arm.

You'll need some extra packages to compile. Adjust these for your distro.
Build Script
To compile, you just have to run `./build.sh`. It should take care of downloading the NaCl SDK and building all the required dependencies.
When it's finished, the `output/` directory will hold all the compiled objects, and the `output/plugin/` directory can be copied over to nassh.

Founded in 1999 by Emch and Noah Shachtman, Subatomic Sound System is a rocord label and collective hosting musicians, producers, DJs and visual artists from a variety of backgrounds and traditions. In fall 2008, Subatomic Sound System garnered international attention for a limited edition vinyl 12' featuring their collaboration with Vienna's Dubblestandart and dub inventor Lee 'Scratch' Perry, releasing the first songs from Perry in the dubstep genre, one of the first recorded examples of a tangible connection between the popular UK based electronic genre that emerged in the begin of the first decade of the 21st century and the Jamaican dub from the 1970s where dubstep's origins were rooted and which had been primarily originated by Perry himself. Beginning in 2008, Subatomic Sound System started hosting weekly radio shows on 91.5fm, Radio New York and webcast on Brooklyn Radio. In 2011 Subatomic Sound System began performing as Lee 'Scratch' Perry's backing band with a hybrid of electronics and live instruments. In 2013 they performed together at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and afterwards became Perry's exclusive touring band in North America. In 2017, Subatomic Sound System released their first full-length album with Perry entitled 'Super Ape Returns To Conquer' which debuted #5 on the Billboard Magazine reggae chart and #2 on iTunes USA reggae album chart and reached #1 on North America World music NACC charts.

Fall 2001: Subatomic Sound System won the Red Bull Vinyl Lab competition in New York City using an early incarnation of Native Instruments Traktor DJ software on a laptop at a time when laptops were not commonly used in musical performance. When judges discovered software had been used to create the mix CD, it sparked a controversy amongst the judges. In the end, judges conceded that there was no valid grounds for disqualifying Subatomic Sound System for using DJ software rather than traditional vinyl and turntables, so they upheld their victory in the competition.^[1]
From 2007 to the present:^[when?] Subatomic Sound System increased touring throughout North America and Europe in a variety of configurations from live band of ten, to electronic trio, to DJs as styles like dubstep increased in popularity and the interest in new dub oriented music emanating from New York City increased (largely the result of successful releases from NYC artists such as Dr. Israel, Ticklah, Easy Star All-Stars, Dub Gabriel, Bill Laswell, Matisyahu, and others).
July 19, 2009: Subatomic Sound System performed to a beyond capacity crowd at Summerstage in Central Park, New York City, along with Lee 'Scratch' Perry & Dubblestandart (with a cameo from Ari Up) as well as Alpha Blondy. The lineup for this event drew the largest Summerstage crowd of the season, confirming organizers' expectations. Given the multicultural and cross generational audiences who turn out in Central Park, organizers had hoped this billing would draw on the connection between modern incarnations of dub based music such as dubstep and the dub and roots reggae styles from over 30 years before, originated by Perry in Jamaica that influenced artists like Blondy to extend that sound in Africa. Those styles then influenced groups like Dubblestandart and Subatomic Sound System in Europe and the US to meld that sound with other contemporary electronic based genres.^[2]
2012: Lee Scratch Perry with Subatomic Sound System as his band and opening act, go on tour across the US, May 16 through May 26. In September they perform together again at Dub Champions Festival in New York City, Music Hall of Williamsburg.
2013: Lee Scratch Perry and Subatomic Sound System tour the west coast and southwest USA including two shows at the Coachella arts & music festival, April 12 & 19, performing music ranging from the roots reggae off Perry's Super Ape album to dubstep and bass music riddims by Subatomic Sound System.
Radio Shows[edit]
Beginning in 2008, Subatomic Sound System started Subatomic Sound Radio, hosting weekly radio shows on 91.5FM, Radio New York and Brooklyn Radio webcasts. The Radio New York show is part of a nightly program called Mo'Glo sponsored by Seattle-based public radio station KEXP.

'Black Ark Vampires' Lee 'Scratch' Perry & Subatomic Sound System[edit]
The song 'Black Ark Vampires' was premiered on Halloween October 31, 2014 via the Brooklyn-based Jamaican culture website Large Up with an explanation of Perry's lyrics about killing vampires and why Lee Scratch Perry burned down his Black Ark Studios in Jamaica decades before. In the song, Perry describes killing vampires with fire, electric wire, roast corn, and his own hair in locations around the globe including America, England, and Kingston, Jamaica. Live concerts by Lee 'Scratch' Perry & Subatomic Sound System from 2001-2014 combined digital electronics and live instrumentalists and singers and this recorded song can also be heard to use a similar blend of elements specifically instrumentation like electric guitar, bass, percussion, and harmonized background vocal produced with space echo and spring reverb effects in a fashion typical of reggae recordings from Perry's Black Ark Studios during the 1970s as well as using electronic synthesized sub-bass and digital drums common to 21st century electronic music genres like dubstep and trap music. The song was released on vinyl 45rpm exclusively on November 4, 2014 and appeared at #1 on Juno Records charts in both dub and reggae. Reggae dancehall vocalist Jahdan Blakkamoore appeared as a supporting vocalist on the track, a collaborator on several other Perry & Subatomic Sound releases as well as vocalist and primary writer on Snoop Lion and Major Lazer albums. Blakkamoore is mostly known for his numerous releases both solo and with his band Noble Society whose release 'Living the Life' came out on the Subatomic Sound label.

There are also lighter economic alternatives by Steinberg, originally named Cubasis, later becoming Cubase SE and then Cubase Essential at version 4. For its sixth generation, the program was renamed Cubase Elements 6. The name change was done presumably, because its rival Cakewalk had taken the Essential branding for its own entry-level DAW software, Sonar X1 Essential.
While the full version of Cubase features unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, lesser versions have limits. For instance, Cubase Elements 6 has a maximum of 48 audio track and 64 MIDI tracks and Cubase Artist 6 offer 64 audio and 128 MIDI tracks.
In 2013, Steinberg introduced Cubasis for iPad, a Cubase for iOS. This version was a full rewrite and supports MIDI and audio tracks, audiobus and virtual MIDI to work with external music apps from the first versions. However, it appears that you can use a Mac to stitch Samsung Gear 360 images by using Bootcamp to install Windows then using the ActionDirector software. Some users have tried this and it didn’t work, but it did work for Jasper Schelfhout and his Macbook Air.
Please note I don’t have a Mac to test, so this is unverified.

For example, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 is capable of Open GL. However, on Windows 10, there are no drivers for it, so it can’t use Open GL. As a result, I can’t stitch Gear 360 photos with ActionDirector using a PC with Intel HD Graphics 3000. On the other hand, on Windows 7, there are drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 3000 (need to update the driver first), so I’m able to stitch both photos and videos.
For Mac users, it appears you MAY be able to stitch Gear 360 photos and videos on ActionDirector running on bootcamp IF your graphics driver supports Open GL. Here is a list of supported Operating Systems for Intel Graphics. If the processor has Intel HD Graphics 4200 or later, it ought to work in Windows 10 (may need to update the driver). If it’s Intel HD Graphics 2500 or 4000, it might or might not work on Windows 10. If it’s HD Graphics 2000 or 3000, it won’t work on Windows 10, but it will work on Windows 7.

Purity has recently been reduced to $49 USD, with prices adjusted for UK and EU residents. With this new, enticing price point, is Purity worth another look? In short: Absolutely.
Ease of Use

Purity has a GUI that is just shy of 750x600 pixels, with its editing pages taking up the lion's share of screen real estate. The result is a tall GUI with almost all of its editing parameters on a single page. To put this into perspective, the Korg M1's GUI is roughly 795x455 pixels - about 100 pixels shorter - with the majority of its editing features spread over 3 pages, squished to one side, and sandwiched between a keyboard and mode select switches, making for an even more cramped user interface than its pixel width and height suggest. This makes Purity comparatively easier to use, along with the fact that it doesn't use the Korg-specific jargon of the M1 such as 'EG Time', 'EG Int' and 'Time Polarity' - which, as an old Roland guy, prompted me to look at the manual more than once - and rather sticks to calling things by simpler, more universal names.
Sound
It's hard to describe Purity's sound in less than 10,000 characters. It's clean, well-equalized, and production-ready. The acoustic instruments sound like a high quality 90's sound module, and can rival the likes of my Roland XP-30, while the synth leads, basses and pads are on par with any software VA available.

Getting Started and Audio Setup
Numark
The Mixtrack Pro 3 does not come with a copy of Virtual DJ 8, but it is still mapped out and ready to use. If you already own Virtual DJ and have not yet installed it, click here and follow the steps below to create your account.
Login or create an account on the right side of the page.
If you already own a copy of Virtual DJ, a download link will be available in your account (If you have not purchased a license, you can purchase it here).
Download, install and open Virtual DJ (make sure that you've unlocked it, too! The Mixtrack Pro 3 will not unlock the software)
Connect the Mixtrack Pro 3 to the computer with the supplied USB cable, and connect the RCA cable from the master output to your speakers. You can also connect your headphones to the front of the device with either 1/4' or 1/8' input.
Virtual DJ will recognize the Mixtrack Platinum and you will see the following prompt:
Click on Use Soundcard and this will assign the Mixtrack Platinum as the audio output device for the software.
Click OK

Assigning the Controller and Outputs
Start by selecting the Gear icon in the top right corner (PC) or left corner (Mac) to open the Settings/Preferences window.
Select Controllers in the left hand column.
Choose the Mixtrack Pro 3 from the list to assign it as your default hardware controller.
Next, select AUDIO in the upper left hand column.
Choose SPEAKER + HEADPHONE under the OUTPUT column.
Choose the NUMARK MIXTRACK PLATINUM under the CARD column if not already selected. This tells the software to send all audio out to your Mixtrack Platinum.
Note: While this should be assigned automatically with the card and output selection, make sure that the outputs are assigned as Master = Chan 1 & 2, and Headphones = Chan 3 & 4.
Click Apply and close out of the setup screen
You are now able to start using the Mixtrack Platinum!

c) Keeping Garageband in Your Dock
Keeping the Garageband icon in your dock may make your life easier, especially if it is a program that you plan to use frequently. In order to keep the Garageband icon in your dock, simply hold the control (or CTRL) key while clicking on the Garageband icon in your dock. Then, hover over “Options” and make sure to click “Keep in Dock”.

Once you have successfully opened Garageband, you should see an opening screen like this:

Here, you see several project type options that can benefit you if you have specific goals in mind. For our purposes, we will make sure that “New Project” is highlighted and choose “Empty Project”. You can begin a new “Empty Project” by simply double-clicking on the “Empty Project” icon.
e) Selecting Track Type
The next screen that pops up should look like this:

The four track types available to us are:
Software Instrument: Play sounds from your Mac
Audio (Microphone): Record using a microphone or line input
Audio (Guitar/Bass): Record guitar or bass using Garageband as an amp
Drummer: Add drums that automatically play with your song
We will choose “Software Instrument” for this project because we will not be using any real vocals or instruments. The “Software Instrument” track allows us to record MIDI instruments and also use Apple’s MIDI loops.

What's taking up all your storage space?
64 GB isn't a lot anymore but even 512 GB might not be enough, depending on how you use your iPhone. Here's some of what takes up your storage space:
Operating system: The first big bite out of your of iPhone storage is iOS itself. Apple has made iOS smaller and more storage efficient over the years, but it still takes up to 5 GB of space right off the top.
Photos & videos: Recent iPhones have 12-megapixel, 4K video cameras on the back. That can lead to camera rolls and photo albums in the double or triple GB digits.
Movies, TV, and music: iTunes movies can be 1-3GB in size for SD depending on the length. If you prefer watching HD, they can be 3-6GB. iTunes TV shows can be a quarter to half the size of movies, but more than make up for it by the number of episodes typically available. Music files are much smaller, but most people have a lot more songs, which more than makes up for it.
Apps and games: Apps and especially games can also take up a lot of space on your iPhone. It's not uncommon for some console-quality games to be over 2 GB in size days. Podcast apps, especially if you download a lot of shows, can also grow to 10 GB or more.
Attachments: If you get a lot of files attached to your email, or receive a lot of Messages with media attachments — looking at you, animated GIFs! — it takes up a lot of space. A lot a lot.
Files: If you work in GarageBand, iMovie, or otherwise edit a lot of content, those projects can take up considerable space as well.

With iTunes in the cloud, you can even delete local copies of iTunes movies and TV shows, and iBooks, and apps, and re-download them at any time — even stream video while downloading it if time is short and bandwidth plentiful.
Delete: If you typically take 10 photos or videos to get 1 that you like, deleting those failed attempts can save you considerable space. If you don't want to risk deleting anything you think you might want in the future, you can connect your iPhone to your Mac or Windows PC, copy over any photos, videos, movies, TV shows, and music, apps, and then delete them from your iPhone. That way, if you ever have regrets, you can go back and reclaim them.
Upload: Beyond Apple's services, there are several prominent online providers like Dropbox, Google, and Microsoft that let you work and store content in the Cloud. Same goes for streaming services like Netflix and Spotify, which have some offline options but mainly let you stream whenever or wherever you want.
Off-loading content
Apple has made it very easy to view content that takes up the most storage on your device and makes it easy for you to free up space by getting rid of content you don't need. We've got a full guide for how to free up storage space.
Cloud concerns
Online is convenient and can be used anywhere, but if you don't have a lot of data or a solid connection, it can be expensive or frustrating to get what you want, when you want it. If you never leave a Wi-Fi hotspot, and the services you want are in your area, you could get by. Dropbox, Google+, Flickr, Spotify, Songza, iTunes Radio, Netflix, Amazon, and other services cover both your stuff and catalog stuff, giving you way more from the cloud than you ever could fit on a single phone.
How are you managing your iPhone storage?
A mixture of all the above approaches is not only possible but ideal. You can copy off or delete away bigger stuff you don't use often, like old photos and videos, and movies and TV Shows you've bought but already seen. You can store or stream smaller stuff, and things you don't need all the time, but do need to be able to access at any time.
